Some Thoughts About History

and Ocean Currents

(if you get my drift . . .)

In Zandaka did Thera Khan

Build an opal pleasure dome

Where Delph the sacred river ran

Beside the mountains of his home

And there he sired fifty sons

On concubines of all degree--

But they perished, all but one.

Atlantis sank beneath the sea.

Tow, tow, undertow

Elders die and children grow

Civilizations come and go

Dragged down by that undertow

In Palestine a holy man

Walked by the shores of Galilee

And spoke most holy words upon

The branches of a bloody tree.

They said he left to conquer death

And would return to set us free.

Alas, it's been four thousand years

And counting 'til eternity.

Tow, tow, undertow

Sunrise shines and tempests blow

Civilizations come and go

Dragged down by that undertow

The skyscrapers of great New York

Hummed like a hive of rushing bees

And housed a dozen million folk

Who worked industrial wizardry;

Launched rockets in a silver cloud

To rule the future and the past.

That city, glorious and proud,

was leveled by atomic blast.

Tow, tow, undertow

Cities fall and mountains grow

Civilizations come and go

Dragged down by that undertow

Vish the RaiderLord declared

That Simes were the true Supermen;

Caught the fortress unprepared;

Imprisoned Gens inside his pen.

Arrows rained down on the field.

Arel's army set all free;

Forced the Raiderchief to yield;

Founded the Territory.

Tow, tow, undertow

Raiders Kill and farmers sow

Civilizations come and go

Dragged down by that undertow

At the Battlefield of Shen

Farris swore to end the Kill;

Took donations from each Gen,

Bent the renSimes to his will.

In the name of Unity

Channels pledged to protect all;

Keep peace among the larities

At least until the Tecton's fall.

Tow, tow, undertow,

Ages pass by, row on row,

Civilizations come and go

Dragged down by that undertow
